Treasured Friends Pet Food Delivery Program
The Treasured Friends Pet Food Program brings pet food to home delivered meal recipients who have no way of obtaining pet food. Pets offer emotional support to seniors, additional opportunities for exercise, and help with depression. For struggling pet owners, providing pet food can be the difference between being able to keep a cherished pet and being forced to surrender him or her. We routinely hear from our meal recipients living on a fixed income that they are sharing their limited human food supply with their pet which means both human and pet are facing hunger and lack of proper nutrition.
Those who qualify for Meals on Wheels or similar programs are almost always eligible for a free pet food program.
If you would like to donate money to the Treasured Friends program or would like to volunteer to deliver pet food to seniors in the Meals on Wheels program, please call 570-346-2421.
Young Adult Program
The Meals on Wheels of NEPA’s Young Adult Program provides meals for eligible young adults between the ages of 18-59 and is funded by the Lackawanna County Department of Human Services.
